How to use

Using the Habit Tracker

Track daily and weekly habits with streaks, charts, and gentle nudges — while every byte of data stays on your own device. This guide covers daily use, building your own habit list, and installing it on your phone.

Quick start

Open the app (it comes preloaded with sample habits) → on the Today screen, tap a circle to check a habit off → watch the progress ring fill. Anything you change is saved instantly in your browser.

Day to day

  1. Check things off on Today

The Today screen lists every habit scheduled for today. Simple habits ("Meditate") have a circle — tap it to mark done. Quantity habits ("Drink water — 8 glasses") have + and − buttons: each tap counts one glass, and the habit completes when you reach the target.

The ring in the top corner shows overall progress, and each habit card shows its current streak with a flame.

  2. Mind the nudge

The banner at the top is the app noticing things: a long streak that isn't done yet today, a rough week versus your average, a habit gone cold — or congratulations when you're at 100%. One message at a time, by priority. Protect your streaks; that's the game.

  3. Review your week in Reports

Reports shows the current week habit by habit — which days hit, which missed — with a this-week vs. last-week comparison and a written summary line. Use the week strip at the top to look back at any past week.

  4. Zoom out on the Dashboard

Switch between Week / Month / Quarter / Year to see your completion trend over time, per-habit percentages, a GitHub-style heatmap of your whole year (darker = better days), and the streak leaderboard showing each habit's current and best runs.

Making it yours

  1. Create your own habits

Go to the Habits tab and add one: give it a name, choose check-off or quantity (with a target and unit, like 20 pages), and pick its schedule — every day, or specific weekdays like Mon/Wed/Fri.

Scheduling matters: stats and streaks only count scheduled days, so a weekday-only habit is never "missed" on the weekend.

  2. Edit or archive, never lose history

Habits can be edited any time. When one has run its course, archive it instead of deleting — it disappears from Today and future stats but keeps all its history in your past reports.

  3. Back up and move your data

In Settings, one click exports everything to a JSON file; import it on another device to carry your history over. That's also your safety net — and if stored data is ever corrupted, the app detects it, warns you, and offers recovery rather than silently wiping anything.

  4. Install it as a real app

iPhone: open it in Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen. Android/desktop Chrome: click the install icon in the address bar. It then launches full-screen from your home screen and works completely offline.

About the sample data

On your first visit the demo preloads five example habits with six weeks of history so the charts have something to show. It's yours now — edit it, archive it, or replace it with your real habits. Everything stays in your browser; nothing is ever uploaded.
